LISA AND AHAB AT EQUIFEST 2007
On May 10th I receive my 11th & 12th Endorsements from Dennis Reis at "the No Dust Tour" stop in Hamilton, TX.

So just what does this mean and how did it happen?
I am always looking for better way to train and communicate with my horses, especially since I have
been adopting "Wild Mustangs".
On RFD-TV I got a glimpse of this trainer from CA, Dennis Reis, doing what he called "Universal
Horsemanship", so called because it can be used on any breed and any discipline. I liked what a
saw, Dennis was a classically trained horseman and even in a western saddle it showed.... I caught his
show a few more times and then purchased his "Home Study Course" and went to a few tour stops
that happened to be fairly close and watched him in person.
Then after my injury had healed last summer I started in earnest training Maggi, my mustang mare
who quite frequently would split in two and buck me off....
August of last year I took her to Lincoln, NE and started working on getting my endorsements. The
home study course is in four levels (courses) each course has four parts and each part has multiple
tasks. On the Friday before each Tour you can ride with Dennis watching and if you can complete
the tasks in each part of each course you get endorsed in that part.... Therefore there are four
endorsements in each course and four courses, so sixteen total endorsements (to date no one has all
sixteen).
I worked Mags all winter and three weeks before my first chance to ride with Dennis this spring,
she slipped on the ice and is still on R&R. So Tom's horse Ahab was next closest in training.... Poor
guy I think he thought he was in boot camp..... With three weeks work under our belts we were off
to Springfield, MO for our first try of 2007... There we received 8 endorsements (the two lower
courses Freedom & Awareness). The following weekend Tulsa, OK and I got the first endorsement in
the in the third course (Movement). The next weekend Fayetteville, AR and I got endorsement ten.
Then the following weekend Tunica, MS and it was too much stress and travel for Ahab and he was
sick so I could not ride for endorsements.... And decide not to take him to Lexington, VA two weeks
later as that would be a 20 hour trip....
So Hamilton, TX was my last chance before summer to get this done... You see I needed the first 12
endorsements to even be considered as and instructor.... Well we have been training as hard as the
rainy weather would permit and it paid off... Friday afternoon we completed the tasks we need for
endorsements 11 & 12....
I'm not done yet as now I must spend 5 days working with Dennis in CA at his ranch the first week in
June and then they will decide if they want me as an instructor and I will decide if I want to be an
instructor.... I will keep you posted.....
