While at the BLM web (http://www.wildhorseandburro.blm.gov/adoption.htm) site back in the summer of 2003 I read they were going to have a TV adoption on a Direct TV channel later in the summer... I called for more information and I was sent a VHS tape of about 150 wild horses that were located at a holding facility in Nevada... Night after night I watch the tape rating horses and making my top picks. The day of the adoption came and I took off work as it was on a Friday. I sat anxiously at the TV. A storm was moving in and I was afraid I would loose both my TV signal and my cell phone so I called the phone number on the TV. I told the young man on the other end what was happening and what horse I wanted... He told me he would call when she came up as the program was about 2 minutes delayed anyway. He called as the horse before Mags was up. I gave my bid and held my breath... No other bids she was mine. They would deliver her to Pauls Valley, OK later in the summer, so we had a few weeks to get more pens ready as we currently had three that we had adopted in 2001.
I got her home on Aug. 14th, it was one of those +100 degree Kansas days...
I did a lot of ground school for the winter and spring and then during the Summer of 04 and with the help of Hazel the Witch and Jeff Rosine we were ready to ride her
The next two years found us trail riding, going to BLM Expos and learning how Cowboy Mounted Shooting www.cowboymountedshooting.com
Then in August of 05 I purchased Dennis Reis' Home Study Course http://www.reisranch.com/ and together Mags and I started on a new journey of learning, communication and trust. On October 20, 2007 after months of being laid up with injuries (both me and Mags) we reached the level of Horseman as we received our first endorsement at this level while riding with Dennis at Lyons, KS. (read more @ http://www.tlcentz.com/diamond.html). We continue to learn and grow together as we do Clinics and Demos through out the midwest.
